A sweet outdoor wedding with Indiana-themed details at Tranquility Farm in Purcellville, Virginia.
From OFD Consulting
“Emily and Kevin were about to head to the lake for a long weekend, and as she got to the house, she noticed Kevin and the dogs were there to greet her at the door, which was out of the norm. Noticing something around one of her dog’s neck, she was surprised to find that it was a note with a ring attached! Of course, she said yes. “It was the best way to start the weekend getaway we had planned,” said Emily.
Both being from Indiana and loving the outdoors, it was only natural that they were drawn to a low-key, farm wedding. To incorporate their home state, their planner, Bellwether Events, added subtle hints of Indiana-themed details throughout, like “Home Again in Indiana” as the processional song, and corn and apples, an Indiana staple, as part of the appetizers. Additionally, with Emily and Kevin having large families, they wanted to be able to spend the entire weekend together, therefore the venue had to accommodate both families, which they found at Tranquility Farms. Some of the couple’s favorite wedding details were the food stations, which offered guests variety, the floral arrangements, and of course, their two Swiss Mountain dogs, which were part of the big day.
With their wedding weekend feeling like a dream, some of Emily & Kevin’s favorite memories were the time celebrating with friends and family, seeing each other for the first time, and their first dance. “We learned a choreographed dance the few weeks leading up to the wedding. We both took ballroom dancing classes when we were in school, and it was so fun learning! It was a surprise to guests, and was so fun getting to do,” said Emily.
When asked what advice they’d give future couples planning their wedding, the couple said: “Hire a planner. Not just for the day-of details, but the entire process. [Bellwether Events] was incredibly helpful. I didn’t have to worry about anything. [Also], love your photographer! Besides your new spouse, you’ll spend most of the day with your photographer, so make sure you love him or her!”
