We’re obsessed with this engagement session on the water that’s inspired by Jackie Kennedy and JFK! So fun!

“Inspired by a photograph of Jackie Kennedy and JFK on their sailboat, Anna knew the perfect place for their engagement session. At the start of the pandemic, her then-boyfriend Matt had to shut down his restaurant to comply with local stay-at-home orders. With more time on his hands, he invested in a fixer-upper of a sailboat docked at Lake Murray. After many days scrubbing, patching, and getting a few sailing lessons, the couple was ready for sunset cruises and days on the lake. Fast forward a year, and the newly engaged couple was pondering how to best capture their relationship and personalities. They decided there was no better way than an engagement session on Eileen, named after Matt’s grandmother showcasing their style and favorite activities.
The couple hired Carters Creative to handle the shoot. With a mix of still and drone photography, every moment was captured beautifully. The hard work the couple put in fixing up the boat was evident in the wide-angle shots on the lake. Anna loves vintage fashion and wanted to add some 1960s glamour to the shoot. She chose outfits that captured the blues of the lake and the romance of days on the water. Always the chef, Matt brought the bubbles and a picnic basket to toast to their new life together. The Carters shot a mix of photos on the dock, on the boat, and in the water. They were up for anything and gave excellent direction.
Matt worked with Anna’s friend Ann Ladson to custom build her ring. The ring features an old mine diamond with fern (Anna’s favorite plant!) engraving around the band. The setting shows off Ann’s signature metalwork that she uses on her custom flatware. It is truly an amazing piece and something Anna cherishes.
Anna’s late father raced sailboats in his youth. So, not only was this shoot a testament to the hard work and fun the couple has together, but also a way for the bride to honor her father’s memory at her wedding. She always feels his love when they let down the sails and follow the wind.”
